Hi, my name is Steve

I’m born and bred in Blackburn, Lancashire but am now living in West Yorkshire in the UK at the moment.

Yes, I have crossed over into enemy territory!

I play small stakes six handed (6 max) poker cash games online in the evenings and also make money online with matched betting during the day.

What is matched betting?

I currently use these as my main sources of income.

I also look to enter competitions online and take part in other money-making avenues that I find around the web. I will chart these and any other entrepreneurial ideas on this blog.

My poker background

I’m a former 100NL ($100 buy-in tables) poker player on the well known poker site Pokerstars from 2007-2012, who’s also had some Live MTT (Multi table tournament)  success. I made the final table of the 2009 GUKPT UK Open finishing 6th for a cash of £14,000 and also finished in 3rd place in the overall Season One rankings of the APAT.com tournament circuit making numerous final tables across the UK & Ireland.

After a three-year break from poker I’m back on the felt, and re-started with a $20 bankroll at 2NL ($2.00 buy-in tables) on Pokerstars just to see if I could still grind my way back up the levels. I’ve since done well enough to move up through the levels to 50NL over the past 5 months on Pokerstars and also on other sites like Sky Poker and hope to achieve becoming a solid winning player at 100NL, and maybe one day 200NL.

The first time I found matched betting in 2007

It was during my first spell in poker that I first found matched betting back in 2007 on the old Eat My Stack poker forums which are now unfortunately inactive, but at the time was the UK’s best poker forum.

Matched betting was very basic compared to what it has become today, with only a few sign up offers to do. I soon completed the sign-up offers, made around £500 and was happy to leave it at that as I had done all the offers that I thought I could do.

Re-finding matched betting in 2015

What I didn’t realise was that as the years has gone on matched betting has now become a money-making phenomenon, with over 20,000 people on the site I use now making money online from matched betting.

I was referred to matched betting again by my friend Dave who runs a Mixed Martial Arts Facebook Group in mid-August of 2015. I was amazed by how much it has evolved, and by just how many offers and free bets there are available for you to profit from!

I was hooked.

At time of writing (July 2016), I have earned over £12,000 in just under 11 months from matched betting.

My blog

I will be charting my matched betting progress and profits on this blog, together with my Poker exploits and anything else I feel like spouting off about at the time with my very own My blog sub-section. You can follow my progress as I document my online money making journey.

What else is Your Beer Fund about?

This is a fun, light hearted blog.

There will be stuff about making money online, but not everything will be about this.

There will be Sports talk and opinions, poker discussion. Men’s lifestyle talk, together with some health & fitness ramblings and challenges.

One of my biggest passions in life is following sport. So I will be posting articles on some of my favourite sports: football and combat sports like boxing and the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships & Mixed Martial Arts)

Nice to meet you Steve, now what?
