            Pros

            • Some tremendous bargains you can stock up on
            • Secure website
            • Very good on tracking and updates
            • Regularly get sent great promotions by email including free delivery offers
            • Had no issues with the quality of the food or drinks, very good and tasty.
            • Well boxed and cared for in delivery

            Cons

            • £4.99 delivery cost, but still good value for money and is comparable to the delivery costs of the major online supermarkets. You also often get free or 1/2 price delivery offers sent to you by email every week.
            • Has a good range and we was impressed, but obviously not as wide as Asda and Tesco's.

            How to save money on your weekly shop using online supermarkets that sell short dated foods

            In this article I will review one of the fastest growing trends in online food shopping in 2016 – Approved Food and buying short dated foods to save money.

            During the past 12 months while writing this blog I have found a handful of risk free guaranteed ways to make money online. I have learnt matched betting to earn over £16,000 in the last 12 months and earned £90 a month doing mystery shopping while doing my normal weekly shop

            But I wanted to find ways to actually save money on the things I’m already spending at the moment.

            That’s when I came across Approved Food and short dated foods back in June of 2016 and decided to make an unboxing review video for Approved Food on our YouTube channel.

            Check out my unboxing video review of Approved Food and short dated foods below;

            Feel free to subscribe to Your Beer Fund’s YouTube channel by the way, as I will be producing a lot more video content going forwards.

            Who is Approved Food?

            Approved Food is the largest online retailer of short dated and past it’s best before date food and drinks, but they also stock a wide range of goods.

            They are a unique online retailer used by thousands of savvy shoppers and bargain hunters every single day.

            Approved Food have been around since 2009 and the majority of their stock is short-dated or past its best before date. They are able to buy in large bulk because of this and pass on some incredible savings on to their customers.

            Is the short dated and past it’s best before date food safe to eat?

            Short dated food basically means that the food is still within it’s best best before date. The only thing is that the food will only have a month or a few weeks before the best before date expires.

            This of course, is absolutely fine to eat.

            Approved Food also sell’s products past it’s best before date. This is quite literally the manufacturers estimate of the premium quality of its product before it may start to deteriorate.

            People get mixed up between best before date and use-by date.

            Approved Food don’t sell anything past it’s USE BY date. Food’s that are past it’s best before date are perfectly good to eat.

            They also sell de-identified products. These product’s aren’t past their best before date or short-dated but are surplus stock from big supermarkets. Items are de-identified when the brand wishes for them to not advertise the selling of their stock. De-identified products are usually big brand supermarkets.

            This means we get to see some great bargains!

            My Approved Food Order

            As stated in the unboxing video towards the top of this post, I was given a £20 credit to purchase goods from Approved Food.

            I ordered a variety of products to get as good a sample of food, drinks and goods as I could – check out the below image of my order from Approved Food.

            Security of the website?

            The security of online shopping is a big concern for any shopper, especially for a site that you might not have heard of before like Approved Food.

            They’ve been around since 2009, are a UK company and have a website secured by SSL as seen in the below pic, so I was more than happy to enter my details into the site.

            Order Tracking and Updates

            How a company is for order tracking and updates can often spoil an otherwise good experience, but this was not the case here.

            You can log-in to the site and track your order;

            They also send you regular emails with updates on the order and the delivery, so no problems there.

            Value for Money?

            It’s not quite as cheap as I first thought it would be, as you imagine all sort’s of ridiculous bargains in your head but – they are definitely cheaper than other online supermarkets.

            Customers typically save around £60 on their monthly shop compared to high street prices. That’s over a whopping £700 per year you too could be saving if you order from Approved Food.

            The only negatives really are;

            • Although they do have a very wide range, it’s obviously not as wide as a Tesco or Asda although this isn’t a problem if your interested in saving money.
            • The £4.99 delivery charge is a cost which can cut into the savings, but even so it’s still worth it and is comparable to the delivery costs of the major online supermarkets.  They also regularly send you free delivery offers and some great money saving promotions by email so it’s easy to not pay for delivery.

            Overall verdict on Approved Food

            Overall I’d definitely recommend trying Approved Food. It’s great for stocking up on goods. For example the 24 cans of Diet Coke for £2.00 is an absolute steal and is something I stock-up on.

            Since first ordering from them in June, I’ve made regular orders from them myself so I’d absolutely say to give Approved Food a go.

            If you want to make more money, first you have to save money and using Approved Food’s is a good way to get started on that!
